Stunning. 27 states have some sort of anti-gay language in their constitutions, but Pennsylvania, try as it might, still isn't one of them.
Even though a lot of us worked to see it come to an end, it passed in committee yesterday and I assumed it would pass the Senate. Next stop, the House. Instead...well, I'm shocked and amazed and delighted.
We've compromised our values, sold out our principles and used our freedoms to justify giving more power to the government. In the first century of America's life, its government was afraid of its citizens. Now, it's the other way around.
Why doesn't this surprise me? And will they ever get it through their heads how much good they do for the people they hate? They came to our burg a couple of years ago on an anti-gay binge, picketing churches that didn't come down hard enough on us.
